Background:

Founded as a church school in 1869, the school is closely affiliated with St Peters Church, Wootton. Situated on a quiet lane on the edge of the village, the school buildings are 'quaint' and compact. Gradually, the buildings have been extended to their 'maximum possible' dimensions today and include a servery/dining hall, small hall, entrance/office area and a 1950s teaching extension beyond. The grounds are landscaped with hardcourt, adventure playground and grassed areas and the PTA has been 'tremendous' in raising 'considerable' funds toward these developments, building extensions and computers. Further work will soon provide the school with a 'purpose built' ICT suite. Close links have been fostered with the local community through social events and a 'well-subscribed voluntary support in school' system. The school is investing in the future, and this includes a 'networked integrated learning system' to support targeted groups in literacy and numeracy.
