Background:
Appleton CE Primary School was orginally founded in 1837, but the school was re-sited in the village of Appleton in 1961. Since then numerous alterations have taken place including the building of a new classroom, information technology room, early years play centre and an administration area. The school has plans to develop the grounds to form an outside classroom utilising sculptures, study trails and activity areas. In the past three years Appleton have won local football and athletics competitions and they recently developed a partnership with Abingdon Further Education College to provide adult education classes. The school is a focal point of the local community and is involved in a variety of millennium celebrations.
