Background:
Founded in 1857 in the small Oxfordshire village of the same name, Shenington is housed in a Victorian building with a recent extension. It has been the joint number one primary school in the country's league tables for the past five years. The over-subscribed school receives three applications for every place. It received the 1997 GM Schools Award for Excellence in Sport. A specialist SENCO (special educational needs co-ordinator) is available, and there is also an SEN room and computer. Pupils support a number of charities and sponsor a child in Ecuador through Plan International. Extra-curricular activities include football, netball, hockey, rugby, electronics, computing, chess, drama, orchestra, golf, sailing and string ensemble.
