Background:
Founded in 1858, Horspath Church of England Primary School is a small, friendly school in a rural setting, about a mile from the eastern side of Oxford. It is housed in a mixture of original Victorian and 1960s buildings in grounds with a nature garden, a pond, a swimming pool, a playground and a sports field. There is also a private nursery on site. The school offers instrumental tuition and stages many whole school dramatic productions. It also takes part in a wide range of sporting, design and technology and information and communication technology (ICT) activities and recently won a computer technology prize. The school offers a range of extra-curricular activities including art club, sewing club, modern dance club, country dancing, drama club etc. Children continue to fund raise to support the education of two Indian children via the work of the Joe Homan Trust. The school aims to produce confident, caring, well-educated and fulfilled citizens for the 21st century.
