Background:
Greatworth County Primary School first opened in 1878 and the original buildings are still in use at the top end of the school. Major programmes of building in the 1970's gave us a marvellous hall and two modern classrooms so that it was able to take children from Marston St Lawrence when their school closed in 1971. There has been a playgroup in the village for many years and since 1990 it has enjoyed the use of the school hall. This has given the playgroup the advantage of the support of the reception class teacher of Greatworth School, which in turn has helped its children to get a really good foundation for their first year in full time education. There are a wide range of extra-curricular activities including: football, netball, basketball, tennis and cross-country.
