Background:
Wood Green School is a mixed comprehensive for students aged 11 to 18. The school'serves the town of Witney as well as the surrounding villages such as North Leigh, Hailey and Finstock. The school is set in over 30 acres with grounds and playing fields, with an impressive collection of facilities including a purpose-built sports hall, gym and swimming pool. There is also a new well-stocked study centre, fully equipped laboratories workshops and computer suites. The school runs a number of clubs and recreational activities during and after-school. These include chess club, a computer club, Young Enterprise Scheme and Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Sporting activities and team games are a feature of school life throughout the year. Pupils have an excellent record at county level across all sports and teams have reached national finals at basketball and girls cricket and synchronized swimming. The school aims to provide a safe and secure environment in which each student can develop as an individual and as a member of a caring community.
