Background:
St Joseph's Primary School was opened in 1968, and around two thirds of pupils come from families at RAF Brize Norton. The school has seven classrooms, one of which is a new extension, multi-purpose hall, an ICT suite, a library and a classroom for special needs base. Behind the school are playing fields, a playground for sport and recreation, a small adventure playground and a designated wildlife area. The school has computers linked to the internet throughout the infant and junior classes, funded by grants from the National Grid for Learning. Extra-curricular activities include guitar, recorder, netball and football. The school has close links with Carterton Community College. The school aims to grow together, through worship, liturgy, prayer and education in an understanding of what it is to be a member of the Christian community.
