Background:
The school was founded in 1789, but has changed 'significantly' over the last 20 years. Pupil numbers have nearly doubled, new classrooms have been added and the ground floor of the original schoolhouse has been transformed into a modern teaching space. The buildings 'reflect its rich history while providing a modern teaching environment'. It belongs to the diocese of Peterborough and is situated in a rural location in south Northamptonshire, serving nearby villages. Each year the children raise money for a range of charities. recent community links have involved the children in a related arts project with the National Trust. Some of the school's student poets have had their work published nationally.Culworth is 'a church school working within the community with a hardworking, stable team of staff'. Pupils 'achieve well' in all key subject areas. 'They enjoy a challenging, caring atmosphere in which they thrive and develop their talents and interests to the full'. The Christian Foundation and background have a profound effect upon the ethos and characteristics of the school. The school was founded in 1789 and now belongs to Northamptonshire LEA and the Peterborough Diocese. The school building is a mixture of old and new with the latest addition completed in the 2000. Culworth benefits from belonging to a local cluster of similar schools all of whom transfer pupils to the local secondary school in Middleton Cheney near Banbury. Parental expectations and commitments are 'high'. The school association is 'active', raising increasingly high levels of additional funding for extra-curricular resources. Children take part in 'many out of school activities' and enjoy 'at least two' residential visits at Key Stage 2. Music, violin, brass and recorder playing are taught.
