Background:
Longcot and Fernham Church of England Primary School was opened in 1874 and remained in use for 95 years. The present building was completed in 1969 and offers bright and attractive classrooms with a central library and resource area. Recent refurbishments have improved the administrative block and extended the classroom accommodation to provide four light and airy rooms each with their own distinctive character. The school has a large playing field marked appropriately for football, rounders and athletics according to the season. A tarmac playground provides sufficient all weather area for netball and other small sided games. The outdoor facilities are augmented by an adventure playground and play shed, which houses a variety of playtime toys. These may include visits to museums, theatres and places of interest relevant to the children's work. A range of activities is offered on a termly basis to children in Years three to six. Recently clubs have included netball, football, athletics, cricket, table tennis, singing, art, science, Internet and sewing. The school aims to create an orderly, secure and stimulating environment.
