Background:
Aston Rowant CE Primary School was founded in 1844 and is situated in the small village of Aston Rowant in Oxfordshire. Two thirds of the roll come from outside the catchment area. The original Victorian building still houses one classroom but there are also two 'temporary' classrooms which were built in the 1970s. The PTA has raised money to build a school hall. Music, sport and art are seen as very important parts of the curriculum and all older children learn to play the recorder. A residential week in Somerset - climbing, abseiling, walking, canoeing and studying, is offered to older children. Extra curricular activities include after school football, rounders and cricket clubs. There are strong links with the local church.
