Background:
Established in 1869 as Crockwell Infant School, Brookside moved to its present site in 1956. It is set in extensive five-acre site with spacious beautiful grounds and interesting play areas, in the centre of the rapidly growing town of Bicester. This is a school with outstanding facilities including a purpose-built nursery, a state of the art ICT suit, an extensive library and a brand new arts and sports centre. There are numerous opportunities where pupils can engage and extend their interests including learning a musical instrument, joining a choir or an art club. Other clubs include football, netball, sailing and ICT club. The school also offers a large number of popular trips and expeditions. The school has been awarded a Schools Extra Award (2002) for its out-of-hours provision, Bicester Business Award (2002) and Activemark award from Sport England. The school aims to provide a working environment, which is safe whilst exciting, and one that promotes enriched learning and curiosity.
