Background:
Matthew Arnold School was among the first in the country to be designated as a specialist Science College in 2002. It is a comprehensive school and as a Science College it offers quality provision in science and maths based subjects, but students also take a wide range of options for GCSE and A-level. The school provides a wide range of extra-curricular activities such as sports clubs with full range of inter-school fixtures, music, with a range of orchestras and smaller groups, a science club, small group work, discussions, role plays, performances and many more. The schools aims are to ensure its students a happy and safe environment within a rich learning, succeed and achieve their full potential academically, socially, physically and personally, have the skills, knowledge and understanding to take their place as mature adults in society, value education as a life-long experience that will continue into the world of work and of leisure, develop a sense of citizenship and responsibility to the community and to society as a whole.
